Jane Goodall on how her looks helped her career: ‘It didn’t harm either that I wasn’t born ugly’
Jane Goodall wasn’t your typical scientist when she first started out in her career — and not just because she was one of the few women in her field.
Back in 1960, when she was 26 years old, Goodall traveled from England to Gombe in Tanzania to learn about wild chimpanzees, human’s closest living relatives. Rather than observing the animals from afar, Goodall immersed herself in their world. This led her to making several groundbreaking discoveries including the fact that, like humans, chimpanzees make and use tools, fashioning and using sticks to “fish” for termites. Until then, it was assumed that tool use was what separated humans from every other animal.

Chris Watts' Alleged Ex-Lover Speaks — but He's Not the Co-Worker Police Say Chris Was Seeing
An unnamed man on Tuesday night came forward claiming to have been a former lover of triple-murder suspect Chris Watts, who is accused of killing his pregnant wife, 34-year-old Shan’ann Watts, and their two young daughters in their Frederick, Colorado, home earlier this month.
The man — whose name and face were not shown — described the purported relationship in an interview on HLN’s Crime & Justice with Ashleigh Banfield.
The man said he was not the co-worker with whom Chris, 33, was allegedly cheating on his wife at the time of the three slayings.
A motive in the murder case has not been confirmed as allegations of Chris’ infidelity draw greater scrutiny. Those who know the Watts have described a seemingly happy union possibly beset by mounting tension.
“It’s beyond belief, really,” friend Kris Landon told PEOPLE. “And it makes you wonder about other people you know. If this couple who seemed so perfect was like this, what are the other couples like?”
The man told HLN that he and Chris were allegedly in an approximately 10-month relationship after meeting online last June. They saw each other off and on through the spring, ending things in March or April, the man said.
The unidentified man’s story has not yet been independently corroborated by news outlets, including PEOPLE, but his account of an alleged relationship with Chris does contain details about Chris’ life that are not readily available online and in public documents. Identifying information about Chris’ truck and his home matches PEOPLE’s reporting.
A source close the investigation tells PEOPLE that Chris has had relationships with both men and women outside of his marriage.

Couple in Shock as They're Charged With Murder in Death of Malnourished Daughter in Michigan
A Michigan couple has been charged with murder as they stand accused of starving their 10-month-old daughter.
A judge told Seth Welch and his wife, Tatiana, both 27, they faced a life sentence with no possibility of parole if they are convicted.
They are accused of starving their infant daughter, Mary, who was found dead inside the Welch's farm near Grand Rapids on August 2.
His jaw dropped when the judge read off the charges, which include felony murder and child abuse, and she sobbed uncontrollably during Tuesday’s hearing.
The baby was so malnourished she had sunken eyes and cheeks and no pulse when paramedics found her at their home, according to officials.
Hours later, Seth Welch posted a message on Facebook saying: “Heart is absolutely shattered. Woke up to Mary dead in her bed this morning ... Just numb right now."
An autopsy found the cause of death was malnutrition and dehydration due to neglect by adult caregivers.
The parents reportedly told police they noticed the baby was “skinny and underweight" a month ago but did not seek medical attention because of their religious beliefs and a mistrust in medicine and the government.
Seth Welch’s Facebook page is are filled with rants against government, Disney characters, and even the "Harry Potter" series.

Missing Iowa Jogger Mollie Tibbetts Was Doing Homework Late on the Night She Disappeared
As police try to retrace the steps of an Iowa college student who disappeared earlier this month, new information suggests she was doing homework late on the night she vanished.
Mollie Tibbetts, 20, is thought to have disappeared after going for a jog near her boyfriend’s home in Brooklyn, Iowa, on July 18. She was dog-sitting for her boyfriend who was out of town for a construction job at the time.
It’s unclear whether she returned home after the jog but new information shows Tibbetts’ boyfriend, Dalton Jack, received a Snapchat from her around 10 p.m., which appeared to be taken indoors.
Family members said Tibbetts is a creature of habit and usually runs each day, taking one of three routes in the area.
"I read somewhere that she was running in a cornfield. That's obviously not true," Kim Calderwood, her aunt, told ABC News. "The run happened and then she was at the house as far as we know. I don't think she would've run in the dark."
The next day, Tibbetts didn’t show up for work.
Authorities have yet to provide an official timeline. However, police have been combing through information from Tibbetts’ Fitbit, which she always wore, as well as her cellphone and social media accounts.
“We are getting a lot of information back from that process. We are very hopeful with the electronic data we are getting back,” Mitch Mortvedt, assistant director of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, previously told the Des Moines Register. “We are relying on the FBI heavily because it’s an ever-changing world in technology."
Crime Stoppers is now offering $1,000 for any information in the 20-year-old's disappearance.
