US animal sanctuary kills all its animals including three tigers and three lions

The owners of an American animal sanctuary have come under fire for killing all 11 of its exotic animals, despite other rescue centres offering to rehome the three tigers, three lions and five bears.
The Lion’s Gate Sanctuary in Colorado said it was forced to euthanise its animals last month after it was denied permission to relocate away from a site that had repeatedly flooded.
Co-owners doctor Joan Laub and Peter Winney said in a statement they planned to build a new facility on 45 acres of empty land they owned, but were denied permission by commissioners who bowed to pressure from local residents in an "unfair" hearing.
In a statement the couple said they felt "the Elbert County Commissioners did not take... the plight of our animals seriously... [or] the safety of Elbert County residents seriously".
"We told them it was no longer safe to keep the animals at that location and we needed to move," they said.
"The commissioners made a decision based upon emotion, and not the law. The 'not in my backyard' crowd controlled the meeting and the outcome.
"As a result, 11 innocent animals paid the price."
Elbert County officials denied responsibility for the deaths of the exotic animals, saying they did not anticipate the outcome of the ruling.
The couple killed all of the big cats and bears at once without warning, having said in the hearing they intended to continue to care for them at the old site if they were denied permission to move, a spokesman for the three county commissioners said in a statement. .
Furthermore, the Keenesburg Wild Animal Sanctuary, also in Colorado, had “publicly offered to care for the animals at their facility if Lion’s Gate was unable to do so", the commissioners claim.
Dr Laub and Mr Winney claimed they did reach out to other animal centres for help, but nobody offered to take in their animals because most were very old. But several centres inside and outside the state dispute this, saying they did not hear from the couple and could have offered the animals a home.
Pat Craig, who runs the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, told Denver7 the couple were lying.
“Taking care of animals that are either sick or have long-term issues is part of our daily thing that we do here,” Ms Craig said. “We rescue... geriatric animals all the time where they’re definitely in the last phases of their life and most people think it would be traumatic for them to move and we move many animals and every one of them ends up very happy here, even in their elder years.”
Meanwhile the Wildcat Sanctuary in Minnesota said they were in a "state of shock" over the decision, especially as they had been "very vocal about our opening for lions in need".
In a post on Facebook the animal rescue facility said they had a long history with Lion's Gate, having rehomed five animals from the centre more than ten years ago when it operated under a different name and had a different owner. They urged members of the public to request an official investigation into the incident.
"It appears this tragedy was a selfish move by these private owners and had nothing to do with the welfare of the animals," the centre said, in a post that has been liked nearly 7,000 times. "Our heart breaks knowing these were senseless deaths of animals that deserved so much more compassion."

George Clooney Rides Shotgun With Burt Reynolds (Sort Of)

Even George Clooney isn’t immune to the feeling of really, really needing a cup of coffee … it just has to be Nespresso.
Yahoo Celebrity has an exclusive first look at Clooney’s new ad, which reunites the 55-year-old actor with Ocean’s Eleven co-star Andy Garcia. The new spot, set to Mel Torme’s classic “Comin’ Home Baby,” shows just how far the U.S. brand ambassador for Nespresso will go for the perfect cup of coffee.
After Garcia calls Clooney — who is at work on a rainy film set — from his home in the Hollywood Hills on a gorgeous sunny morning, Amal’s hubby decides to head back and join his friend in La La Land. Clooney finds himself in a montage of iconic movie travel scenes from The Muppet MoviePsychoEasy RiderSmokey and the BanditPlanes, Trains and Automobiles, and Seabiscuit to get there.

The faux scene with Burt Reynolds in Smokey and the Bandit is a standout one for Clooney, as he said the actor was his favorite “co-star.”
“I never met Burt Reynolds, but I would like to,” Clooney tells Yahoo. “Burt was the biggest star in the world in the ’70s and one of my favorite actors. There was always a sense that as an audience we were in on it with him. So I might say Burt Reynolds on this one just because I haven’t met him and I would like to.”
Hey, the admiration is mutual. Reynolds recently told Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric that if Smokey and the Bandit ever gets remade, he’d want George Clooney to play the bandit. “Well, George Clooney is my favorite actor,” said Reynolds. “But he wouldn’t do it, I don’t think. He wouldn’t have to do that. He would do what he does, but … I love his work. He has a sense of humor about himself, which the Bandit had.”

See Sofia Vergara Get Bucked Off a Bull Pool Float

Sofia Vergara gets tossed off her bull pool float. Olé! (GIF: Sofia Vergara via Instagram)

The only thing you can hear the Colombian beauty say in the video — after emerging from the water — is, “No puedo” (“I can’t”). Though she added in the caption, “I have all summer,” and she also has a gorgeous pool to practice in.
Vergara, rocking a white one-piece with side cutouts later posted a cute photo of her atop the bull, but she captioned it, “Looks like I did it but I didnt.”
Vergara and the pool float is one of our favorite things from last week. On Thursday, she climbed aboard a giant flamingo float in a pretty summer dress, presumably just for the photo op (who goes in the pool in a dress?), but she had a little bit of a rocky go of it. She posted a series of photos, including one of her holding on to the float around the neck for dear life, and wrote, “Girls..this is how u graciously get on your pool bird,” with the crying emoji.

Kim and Kourtney Kardashian Are Busting Out of Their Bikinis in Mexico

Baby got back! Kim Kardashian flaunted some major curves while on a girls’ getaway to Mexico over the weekend. Kim and a group of pals headed south of the border to celebrate Kourtney Kardashian’s 38th birthday.
The girl gang also included Brittany Gastineau, Malika Haqq, a newly single Larsa Pippin, and Kim’s assistant, Stephanie Shepherd. The crew posted up as usual at Joe Francis’s Casa Aramara — a Kardashian favorite — in Punta Mita.
Not so coincidentally, paparazzi also happened to get the memo about the fiesta. That means there are plenty of bikini-clad pics of Kim, Kourtney, and their crew because, duh.
Kanye West’s wife wasn’t shy about showing off her voluptuous physique in a vintage Dior two-piece suit. In case you were wondering, this is what Kim’s bikini body looks like after losing 6 pounds due to an “amazing diet,” aka the flu.
Last week, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 36, tweeted, “The flu can be an amazing diet. So happy it came in time for the Met lol #6lbsdown.” She was immediately blasted for the “joke” and quickly deleted the comment. But as we all know, you can’t ever really erase anything online.
