Bad News for Mushroom consumers in North Cyprus: Three poisoning cases!

Toxic mushrooms were in hospital

After the rains, the mushrooms growing in the mountains and in the ovals brought danger. Three people ate mushroom (fungi) from the mountain in Girne have been poisoned.


Three friends named Kamil Yildirim (E-32), Fevzi Kaya (E-50) and Hürol Derman (E-42) were poisoned yesterday in Kyrenia. They consumed mushrooms they had gathered together on the mountain.
Three poisoned friends, were taken to the Girne Akçiçek Hospital after the first intervention in Nicosia by Dr.. Burhan Nalbantoğlu who refered them referred them to the State Hospital.
Kamil Yildirim, Fevzi Kaya and Hürol Derman were taken to the emergency services in the hospital. After treatment, it was learned that three of the patients who were taken under observation at the hospital and are now all in good health.
Experts warn
With the last rains, mushrooms began to appear in many areas. The habit of collecting mushrooms which is very popular in North Cyprus and sometimes brings danger. Do not collect mushrooms, especially those who do not have knowledge of "poisonous mushrooms". 
"There is a variety of red fungus that can be fatal upon consumption. These species that resembles the edible fungus is known as the red mushroom,  it is the most common type of mushroom. These confusion can cause mortality. 
Be warned!


Mushroom poisoning shows symptoms within 1-2 hours

Experts point out that the cultured mushrooms after been eaten takes a while to react, emphasizing that poisonous fungi are types showing symptoms after 1-2 or 8-9 hours, and that the symptoms of poisoning are fever, vomiting and nausea in the body.
