A man was stabbed to death in Alsancak at lunchtime on Tuesday during an argument with his tenants who live on the ground floor of his house.
Memduh Ulugün, 53, who worked for Alsancak council and had returned home for lunch, received six stab wounds to his chest during an argument with his tenants, a married couple Mehmet and Meryem Doğu.
The attack took place in Zeytinlik Sokak, while horrified onlookers were unable to intervene.
They were told to keep away and that this was a matter of honour.
The husband attempted to run away after the incident. However, both husband and wife were arrested. The police had problems dispersing the shocked and angry crowd which had gathered.
